Phil Rigger – Producer/Director/Engineer/Editor/Arranger/Programmer
Sydney based producer Phil Rigger’s professional music career began as the driving force behind the critically acclaimed new wave band Outline in the late 1970s. Signed to CBS within 6 months of their formation Outline released a number of well received singles prior to dropping their debut album ‘Maybe It’s A Game’ in 1981.
The following years saw Phil working as a producer/arranger on numerous albums for highly successful South East Asian artists throughout Hong Kong and Taiwan whose albums collectively sold 2 million copies. Into the 90’s he worked as an in-house producer for EMI/Castle Music. Through this period he co-wrote and produced 6 highly successful Library Production albums released internationally. He also wrote and produced TV jingles for the likes of Village Roadshow, Estee Lauder, Goodyear, Nescafe, State Transit Authority, Dairy Farmers, HCF and many others. His skills as a producer, arranger and manager have taken him as far a field as London, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Romania and Jakarta. He worked on the soundtrack for the film, Young Einstein and was the composer and sound designer on the short film, The Seedling that won Best Comedy Short Film at the 1995 Houston Film Festival.
Classically trained, Phil was nominated for an ARIA award in 1992 for his work on the film Hercules Returns and the subsequent album by the same name. Along with Terry McArthur he penned the hit single Communication for John Farnham and has co-written with the likes of Tina Arena, Ian Moss, James Blundell and Jay O'Shea. He co-wrote and produced Deluge, the seventh studio album from James Blundell, one of Australia’s biggest selling country artists. Postcards From Saigon, 2nd single off that album was nominated for a Golden Guitar in Tamworth and won the Telstra Countrywide Single of the Year.
As a member of the decidedly left field spoken word songsters The Cube, Phil has collaborated with UK dance sensations Faze Action (Rae & Christian, Crazy Penis, David Holmes) on a number of tracks. The Cube released an album in 2004, with 2 singles attracting widespread interest and both received wide airplay on MTV, Rage, Video Hits and Channel V.
